Mama Kandeh, leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) was on Tuesday invited for questioning by the Serious Crime Unit of the Gambia Police Force (GPF) at the Police Headquarters in Banjul, Mamos Tv has learnt.
According to a senior official of the GDC party, their leader’s questioning was in connection to the recent allegation that government officials are embezzling funds given by international agencies and the EU for development projects for Gambians.
It would be recalled that Mama Kandeh made some allegations of funds embezzlement by government officials a week ago during one of his meetings organised in Essau, North Bank Region.
However, our informant told us that Kandeh was invited for questioning but was allowed to go home freely on the same day without being charged.
Meanwhile Kandeh and his GDC party have been severely criticised by supporters of their political opponents since he made this allegations last week.
